2.9 BOB not cranking

I have just bought this 98' Ford Scorpio Cosworth for spares. I tried to start the engine but it won't crank; all the electrics (those which are still in one piece) do work apart from the starter motor. I attached some photos that may help with the dashboard and the relays. The only thing the car does when I turn the key to the third position is some noise at the relay near the handbrake.

Cheers.

with the ignition on (and the car chocked to prevent any chance of moving) bridge the starter motor exciter wire and see if that bursts it in to life or just cranks over

sounds like it may be the starter inhibitor switch to me, but im no expert with the wiring gremlins on the frog eyes

, That's had a bit of a bump!

I'd agree with mk2cossie, bridging the starter will tell you more quickly

The frog scorpio is famous for it's poor wiring!

Will I have any spark at the plugs if I just bridge the starter ? I guess the engine management won't work and the only thing I will make sure is that the starter is OK ?

If the key is in position 2 and you bridge the starter, then yes.

Or the safest way to get it to turn over, would be to bridge out the inhibitor switch found on the autobox. This'll enliminate any undue problems arrising

I will get the engine in my 2 door mk2 Granada at some point so I will have to bridge the PATS anyway. I just don't know how.

The PATS system is another ball game!

You can run the BOB engines with the BOA loom & ECU, if it's easier

Look forward to it being fitted to the MK2

Not a chance finding BOA wiring and ECU in my country, cosworths are rare. So I will have to use this one as it is, just if I could start it

Just checked the inhibitor (whose light bulb is on the dash) and it goes off when I turn the key so I guess it works. Help anyone ?

Problem sorted, just did what you said, bridged the starter and the beast came to life. Thank you very much for your help.
