Pre-programmed PIC microprocessor for the construction of an EEC IV and Teves Mk II and IV Fault Code Reader.
EEC/ABS Fault Code Reader (FCR) PIC
The Fault Code Reader (FCR) project developed out of a frustration of trying to use LED testers with the EEC IV. For example, when presented with a code of say 576 by a flashing LED it is very easy to lose count and not know what you are doing. After 18 months of hard work, and the discovery of how to extract ABS codes along the way, we can make avaliable, the opportunity to build a unit that out performs even Ford's own Star Tester. On offer is the pre-programmed 16F648A PIC microprocessor that is the brain of the FCR. Full build instructions and other required components are avaialable here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.harby2/Build_a_FCR.pdf (3.1 MB). Please be sure you are confident with the build before ordering.
The unit has been tested and works on 2.9L 24 valve Cosworth (3 digit codes) and 2.9L 12 valve (2 digit codes) Ford Granadas, and 1.1L Ford Fiesta (2 digit codes). It's features include; Plain text instructions to the user, Retention of the last set of EEC and ABS test results, even when powered off, Output of stored codes to a PC. Full operating instructions are available from http://homepage.ntlworld.com/The_Fault_Code_Reader_v1_C.pdf.
